How often ... Bowel Movements 1 week old baby?

When my son was a newborn, he rarely had a bowel movement. (maybe 1 or 2 a day) He still, now 8 months, has maybe 2 or 3 a day. My doctor said it was okay, that all babies are different, granted he's gaining weight and developing normally.
