I have dark brown wavy thick hair layered, shouldered legnth, Im thinking of getting carmel highlights?

Would that be a good idea or not? I dont want something to extreme like really bright blonde hair, I was thinking more Carmel, but not too dark...Something that blends in it with my hair, would be that be a good color to choose or not? Any other color sugguestions? I dont want something too over the top other wise ill totally regret it lol my hair color is like the one on my avatar :P soo yup juz wondering if someone could give me some good advice and tips! :)
