So just how does compelling someone suspected of being in the Country illegally to show papers violate rights?

If they have the legal right to be here they already have everything then need to prove legal status. Last job I accepted required me by law to prove I had the right to be here, was I racially profiled? When I got my mortgage I had to prove I was here legally, when I got my Secret Clearance I had to prove I was here legally. when I got my licenses I had to prove I was here legally. Were my human rights violated?
