What kind of yoga to do?

I have tried yoga a bit a long time ago and would like to really explore it. I know there are different types but which discipline and which DVDs are best for lengthening endurance or slimming down quickly/seeing a change quickly? Opinions or experiences of the different styles of yoga or opinions of yoga in general? Also I'm not ready to go to an actual yoga cl yet. (I think I'm asking this on Yahoo Answers and not to people face-to-face because I'd be too scared of friends thinking I'm shallow.... :P)
