Cell phone upgrade for at&t?

I have a blackberry pearl and would like to upgrade to the samsung captivate. I'm part of a family plan with unlimited data. Would I lose unlimited data if I upgraded? Also would there be any extra charges that I wouldn't have on my blackberry? Thank you very much for your replies. :)
