Is having an opinion different than yours justification for reporting a question?

I asked a question in R&S regarding gay marriage. I received 3 stars and 20 answers. Then question was not rude or disrespectful in any way. I picked a best answer from a person that disagreed with me because he answered it honestly and respectfully. I just received a violation notice. Is having an opinion and intelligently and respectfully asking a question against the Y!A guidelines?
